The Naboro prison poultry farm has started supplying roosters to Goodman fielder.
The Commissioner of Corrections, Lieutenant Colonel Ifereimi Vasu said that the 2000 roosters were supplied to the company just last Friday.
He said the inmates are now into rooster and egg business apart from having a piggery farm.
He added that it costs $8 to raise a chick for 6 weeks.
Lt Colonel Vasu said they are currently starting in small batches just to meet the demand and are open to sell the roosters to the members of the public as well.
They currently have $240,000 worth of stock including pigs at the prison and close to $160,000 in the Bank.
60% of what is sold is given to the inmates while the prison keeps 40% for operational purposes.
Lt Colonel Vasu said under the yellow ribbon project, apart from working on farms, many inmates are into tailoring, painting, gardening and carpentry.
Inmates into painting have been employed by hotels after they served their sentences while some have their own business.
