The villagers of Nabavatu will no longer have to live in tents since the government will start the project to build 10 houses by the end of July as construction is expected to begin soon.
While speaking to fijivillage News, village headman Moriti Waqawaqa says the villagers have been waiting for the past four years for their homes to be rebuilt, and it is finally becoming a reality.
Minister for Rural and Maritime Development, Sakiasi Ditoka says this initial work will begin by next Wednesday, and the first 10 houses are expected to be completed around July.
Ditoka adds all the houses are expected to be built by the end of this year.
He adds the government also distributed 37 food packs to the villagers in Nabavatu.
