New Zealand Rugby has agreed to share its broadcast revenue with Fiji and Moana Pasifika for the 2022 Super Rugby competition. They have been working with Moana Pasifika and Fiji for months to have them included in the 2022 Super Rugby.
Pacific Rugby Players CEO Aayden Clarke says he is never been more confident because New Zealand Rugby wants to make this happen by sharing their resources.
Clarke says this will be a huge moment, not only for Pacific Islands rugby but also the opportunity for players to be able to play professional rugby.
He says he was optimistic that the licences would be granted in the next few months, and the Pacific Islands rugby dream can finally become a reality.
The Fiji Rugby Union had announced last month that it was seeking private capital of up to $10 million and will offer majority ownership of a team in Super Rugby in 2022.
In this week's Super Rugby Aotearoa, the Crusaders will take on the Chiefs at 6.05pm Saturday and the Blues will face the Highlanders at 2.35pm Sunday.
