New Zealand Defence Force personnel currently in Fiji have already completed two school rebuilding projects since their arrival last month.

They have already completed repair work at Silana Secondary School in Tailevu and Lomaloma Secondary School in Vanuabalavu.

NZ Defence Force personnel are also working at Dawasamu District School.

Commander of the New Zealand Joint Forces Major General Tim Gall said they are also carrying out repairs on critical infrastructure with the resources they have available.

Major General Gall said their personnel will be able to stay in the country for 42 days with the supplies they currently have.

He hopes to have positive discussions with the Commander of the RFMF, Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto about providing training for RFMF personnel.

Close to 500 combat engineers, soldiers, sailors and aircrew, two ships and six aircraft including two multi‑role helicopters have been deployed since the 21st of last month to support the New Zealand government's assistance to Fiji as it recovers from the cyclone.
