New Zealand 7's coach Gordon Tietjens said he is solely focused on beating Fiji in the tough cup quarter final of the San Diego 7s this morning.
Tietjens said he really doesn't think about the record although someone has reminded him that a win against Fiji will see them go past the 34 game unbeaten run achieved in 2002 by New Zealand but for now they are just looking at playing the quarter final against Fiji.
Although they did not accumulate as many points as they did in Wellington last week, New Zealand did not concede even one try in the Pool stages of the San Diego tournament.
A more than pleased Tietjens has always maintained that a team with a solid defense would always come out on top in 7s.
The first quarter final at 7.28 this morning New Zealand will take on Fiji, followed by England facing Kenya at 7.50am, then at 8.12am Argentina against South Africa while the last quarter final is at 8.34am between Samoa and Scotland. The semi final will be at 11:38am and the final is at 1:45 this afternoon.
