National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad says that he has done enough after being questioned on racial and religious vilification while Fiji First General Secretary Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says there are double standards within NFP.
The two politicians spoke about this last night on Straight Talk with Vijay Narayan about their stand and concerns about allegations of religious and racial vilification by some NFP candidates.
It was an email which was sent to all media in Fiji saying that Sayed‑Khaiyum and Faiyaz Koya are claiming to be Hindu that took prominence last night.
That email said Sayed‑Khaiyum has laid the foundation of a mandir and just for votes they both sold their Iman.
NFP Leader Biman Prasad stressed that he absolutely condemns any form of racial or religious vilification and he has made it clear in his speeches that the NFP will campaign on issues.
Fiji First General Secretary Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum says he previously has shown Prasad some viber messages from Feroz Gulam Mohammed where he is saying that because Sayed‑Khaiyum has been to Hindu temples, cracked the coconut, participated in ceremonies and gotten the tikka, he has become a Hindu.
Sayed‑Khaiyum says this is the kind of insidious fanning of flames in respect of religion and ethnicity.
The NFP Leader says he has travelled around the country in the last four years and not once has someone come to him and talked to him about issues of racial and religious vilification.
