The National Disaster Risk Management Office is advising people and communities to take necessary precautions to ensure safety as heavy rain is expected to continue during this festive season.
They are urging people to stay away and refrain from crossing flooded rivers, streams, drains, roads and walkways while drivers are advised to remain vigilant and take extra precautions.
Mariners are also urged to check weather and marine forecasts before heading out to sea as a strong wind warning is in place and conditions may quickly deteriorate.
The NDRMO is also working with the Fiji Meteorological Service to monitor the current weather situation.
Meanwhile, a Flash Flood Warning is now in force for all low-lying flood prone areas of Western and interior of Viti Levu, including Momi to Nadi, Lautoka, Ba through Tavua, Rakiraki, interior Ra and Tailevu North while a Flash Flood Alert remains in force for all low-lying flood prone areas of Vanua Levu.
They say an active trough of low pressure lies slow moving over the group, which is associated with clouds and rain that will continue to affect the country until Saturday.
