The National Disaster Management Office is continuing damage assessments in Kadavu following Tropical Cyclone Sarai and ration distributions have been completed.
NDMO says the planning for the deployment for Lau has been finalised and focus areas for food ration distribution will be Moala, Matuku, Totoya and Vanuavatu and upper Southern Lau region including Oneata, Moce, Komo, Kabara, Fulaga, Namuka, Ogea, Ono I Lau and Vatoa.
There is major damage to crops and vegetation in these islands.
The assessment and restoration of critical infrastructure will focus on jetties, communications, roads, electricity, water, agriculture, and education as well as Government stations.
Health teams will provide mosquito spraying and surgical services.
Humanitarian assistance will focus on the distribution of hygiene kits, food rations as well as non-food items by the Fiji Red Cross.
RFMF will provide manpower to assist in ration distribution and surveying of schools and Government stations.
Three Government vessels will deploy the team which includes MV Bainitakali, MV Sigavou, and MV Veivueti.
