NDMO activates National Emergency Operation Centers

The National Disaster Management Office has confirmed that they will be active until the cyclone moves past Fiji as they have activated the National Emergency Operation Centers.

NDMO Director Anare Leweniqila says that they will also be meeting with their Emergency Operating partners which is Police, the RFMF and the National Fire Authority.

Leweniqila says that the whole of Fiji should be prepared.

He says that they are also working closely with the Ministry of Education on the list of evacuation centres adding that so far no evacuation centre has been activated.

Leweniqila has also urged people who live on low lying areas prone to flooding and storm surges to know their nearest safe high ground where their evacuation centre is located and their safest access route.
