My Suva Picnic Park opened by PM

My Suva Picnic Park opened by PM
Suva city’s 60th anniversary was celebrated in style as “My Suva, Picnic Park” was officially opened at Queen Elizabeth Drive yesterday by the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.

Special Administrator of Suva Chandu Umaria said the project cost approximately about $1.3 million which was collected through city rates.

Umaria said the park provides both children and adult play equipment, BBQ facilities, car parks, full time security and cleaners.

Meanwhile, Commodore Bainimarama said this is much more than a park.

Commodore Bainimarama also said for the past six years, the government has put a lot of effort into rural development which were badly neglected by the previous governments but they are increasingly turning government’s attention to improving urban centers.
