Indian National, Muskan Balaggan who was sentenced to 11 and a half years imprisonment in 2012 for attempting to export illicit drugs and unlawful possession of cocaine is seeking a review of the Supreme Court judgment delivered in November, 2016.
The Supreme Court had upheld the judgments of the Fiji Court of Appeal and the High Court regarding Balaggan’s conviction and sentencing.
The matter was called today before Acting Chief Justice, Kamal Kumar.
Justice Kumar has granted leave for amended petition to be filed for the review of the Supreme Court judgment.
Balaggan is represented by Suva lawyer, Pravesh Sharma.
Justice Kumar has given the two parties time till 3rd April this year to file submissions and responses and thereafter a judgment will be delivered on notice.
