Great news for the Fiji Water Flying Fijians as fly-half Caleb Muntz is back training with the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua after being out of rugby for the past 6 months due to a knee injury.
Flying Fijians Head Coach Mick Byrne says Muntz is recovering well and he will start training this week.
Muntz suffered a knee injury after the Flying Fijians historic win against England in August, and this cost him his chances of playing in the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France.
When questioned about having potential young players in the Flying Fijians squad such as Fijian Drua flyhalf Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula, Byrne says he would like to see Ravula develop further.
He says the good thing about having good young players coming through is the players who are in front of them are always looking over their shoulders and working a bit harder to get better as well.
The Flying Fijians will face the Barbarians in Twickenham on the 22nd of June, and they then play the All Blacks on July 20th at the Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, USA.
Byrne is also the coach for the Fijian Drua Men’s team who will take on Moana Pasifika at 2.05pm Saturday at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
