The Co-Chair of the Multi-National Observer Group Jane Prentice says they are impressed by the professionalism of the Fijian Elections Office staff and the efficiency and transparency of their preparations for the 2018 general elections.
Prentice is a member of the House of Representatives of the Australian Parliament.
Prentice says they have assessed that elections preparations have been proceeding smoothly largely because the Fijian Elections Office had more time to plan and prepare their elections operations compared to the 2014 general elections.
She says the next stages of the election process are extremely important which includes the polling and counting tabulation activities on Wednesday.
Prentice says the Multi-National Observers Group will be closely monitoring these crucial processes and also be closely following post electoral developments including the allocation of seats and any electoral disputes that may arise.
The Co-Chairs will release an interim statement on 16th November outlining the Multi-National Observers Group initial observations.
This will be followed by a detailed final report containing recommendations for the Fijian Government as soon as possible following the election.
It has also been confirmed that both of these will be available to the Fijian public and the International community.
