As we come to an end of day 6 of the search for 3 year old Talei Raikadroka who has been missing from her grandfather’s house at Kalekana Settlement in Lami, her mother, Losalini Lalaia believes a diaper and a packet of snacks found near a creek in Kalekana on Sunday morning belonged to her missing daughter.
Lalaia says the diaper and snacks were found by her mother-in-law.
She says as a mother, she has a strong feeling her daughter has been abducted and is still alive.
Lalaia says it could be someone who knows her father-in-law and that person may have done this to get money from him as he is a moneylender.
She says a boy had also heard Talei crying in the middle of the night on Friday. He had informed Talei’s granduncle about it but he had assumed that Talei was with her mother.
Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro says the Water Police, the K9 Dog Unit and the Criminal Investigations Department are continuing the search for Talei.
The search continues out at sea and inland in Kalekana.
Naisoro says the house to house enquiries also continue.
Talei was reported missing at the Lami Police Station on Sunday.
According to Police, Talei's grandfather woke up on Saturday morning and noticed her missing from their Kalekana home and assumed she had gone to her granduncle's home to have breakfast.
Upon returning from a church service, he noticed the girl still missing and presumed the child was still with family.
Please call the Southern Division Command Centre on 9905529 if you have any information that could help Police locate the young girl
