With a number of restrictions now in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, many people are still getting together for alcohol and grog related parties as 53 people were arrested over the last 24-hours for breaching curfew orders and health restrictions.
There have been worrying cases with many arrests relating to people from different households drinking alcohol and grog together.
Acting Police Commissioner, Rusiate Tudravu says the Southern Division recorded 32 cases whereby 17 were caught drinking alcohol while nine were found drinking grog.
A driver and a passenger were also arrested for driving without a pass during curfew hours while four were arrested for loitering.
A 31 year old Manager and his staff were arrested in the Central Division for operating a business regarded as Non-Essential.
Of the five cases recorded in the Eastern Division, two were found not wearing masks while travelling in a public service vehicle in Levuka while the other two cases were related to alcohol.
A 24 year old man was found loitering along the Sasawira Road in Nasinu during curfew hours.
The Western Division recorded 13 cases. Three people were found drinking in Lautoka while four drunk people were arrested at Rabulu Village in Tavua.
Five people were also caught drinking alcohol at Nawajikuma settlement in Nawaka while a 32 year old man was found loitering in Lautoka during curfew hours.
In the Northern Division, a 33 year old woman was found loitering along the Namena Road.
