More than 10,000 students from the Central and Western Division gathered at the Fiji National University's Nasinu Campus to attend the Open Day yesterday.
The Head Girl of Wainibuka Secondary School, Adi Olivia Rabukaivalu, from Nayavu, Tailevu, says they were the first school to arrive at the Nasinu Campus 2024 Open Day this morning.
Adi Olivia says the students and teachers left at 5am to ensure they arrived on time and had sufficient time to explore the university's resources.
The Head Girl says she is an arts student and wishes to pursue her studies in Banking and Management, however she has some other plans in mind as well.
She says students from Year 10 and 11 have also accompanied senior students so they can decide about their career paths.
Adi Olivia is yet to decide what university she wishes to join and says this is an opportunity for her to clear doubts.
Lelean Memorial School Year 13 student, Jokatama Rasuaki says after completing high school, he wants to become a carpenter as he understands the shortage of skilled labourers in Fiji.
Rasuaki says he also visited the TVET booth to learn the duration of the programme, requirements and how he can apply for the course.
He encourages other students to take full advantage of the opportunity as FNU Open Day happens once a year.
Meanwhile, FNU has set up various booths for students to attend and explore and is encouraging students to visit them and discover their educational journey.
The Open Day at Nasinu Campus will end today.
