More than 500 procedures have been performed on the government medical ship - MV Veivueti since its arrival two years ago.
The vessel which serves maritime areas has a comprehensive team of health specialists ranging from surgeons, paediatricians, obstetricians, dentists, nurses, physiotherapists, dietitians and people that focus on environmental health.
The vessel also has onboard carpenters, plumbers and handymen who carry out repair works on maritime stations.
Since it’s arrival, the MV Veivueti has made three tours of Lau, one of the Lomaiviti Group, and recently the Northern islands of Yadua, Kia, Cikobia, Yacata, Qamea, Yanuca, Kioa and Rabi.
The $8 million investment is specifically designed and built to provide both primary and secondary medical services and rapid response to emergencies to the maritime areas.
