Through the rural millionaire farming program more than four homes have been built by the youths of Sawaieke in Gau.

This was highlighted by the Commissioner Eastern Luke Moroivalu when he visited the kava farms in Sawaeke, Gau which was a join collaboration between the government, the church and the Vanua.

Moroivalu stated that this rural millionaire program started four years ago which was initiated by the Minister of Agriculture, with each individual of the village having their own goals to achieve.

He adds that more than 40 farmers of Sawaieke are part of this farming project of which each farmer has planted more than 1,000 kava plants in order to achieve their individual goals.

Moroivalu says he is thankful to the support given to these farmers by the elders and the church especially the spiritual advocacy by the Talatala Qase of Lomaiviti Reverend Tevita Vuniwaqa.

The turaga ni koro of Sawaieke, Akariva Nabati says the church and the vanua have been the guiding light to the youths in enabling them to lead a discipline life and to use their time well.

Nabati says the kava farms owned by the youths of Sawaieke is worth millions of dollars and is in line with the government policy of making good use of their resources and eradicating poverty.
