More than 200 volunteers are picking up rubbish in Nausori Town today as part of the National Environment Clean Up campaign.
The clean up campaign focused on the theme Beat Plastic Pollution started at 10 this morning at three different areas in Nausori.
The first clean up zone is from Syria Park Podium to the main town area and second area is the Nayala Subdivision.
Volunteers are also picking up rubbish at the Manoca Industrial area and Nausori Bus Stand.
Nausori Town Council CEO Akhtar Ali says youth groups from Waila, Nausori and Nakasi, staff of the Ministry of Education and Commissioner Central’s Office and the banks in Nausori Town are part of the clean up campaign today.
He says they have four enforcement officers that raise awareness and also enforce the Litter Act.
The fine for littering is $40.
