More than 16,000 tourists from the United Kingdom visited Fiji last year.
This was revealed by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama at the Tourism Fiji event held at the Fiji High Commission in London.
Bainimarama says due to the nature of the journey, tourists from the U.K. and Europe spend longer periods of time in Fiji.
He says the average vacation for travellers from Great Britain is a full nine days and people in London know how to make the most of their dream Fijian holiday.
He says he has been told that Fiji is expecting 2019’s tourist arrivals from the U.K. to Fiji to rise by 6.6% so they need to work to continue that momentum into 2020 and beyond.
He adds that there is room for growth in extended backpacking trips, and in other adventure-based holidays, from eco-tourism to diving trips for Europeans looking to explore beautiful jungles and reefs.
