More than 11,000 athletes will compete over the next couple of weeks, all vying to get their hands on a Olympic medal they've worked so long for.
Fiji has a total of 30 athletes who will be competing in both Men’s and Women’s 7s Rugby, Swimming, Judo, Sailing, Table Tennis and Athletics.
The BBC reports there will be a record 339 medal events held across 33 sports, with five new sports - and 34 new events in total - added to the Tokyo 2020 programme by the International Olympic Committee.
Some 48.8% of athletes competing at the Tokyo Olympics are women which is a record figure.
The five new sports are karate, skateboarding, sport climbing, baseball/softball and surfing.
Baseball and softball technically aren't 'new' sports on the Olympic programme, but they haven't been contested at a Games since Beijing 2008.
This year's Games are also doing their bit for sustainability. The medals are made from recycled mobile phones, while the Olympic torch was made from aluminium waste from temporary housing built in the aftermath of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake.
The Opening Ceremony is expected to start at 11pm tonight.
Jerry Tuwai and Rusila Nagasau will be Fiji’s Flag Bearers.
Meanwhile, the Fiji Men’s 7s team will begin their defence of the Olympic gold medal against Japan at 12pm next Monday and then play Canada at 8pm.
Fiji will play Great Britain at 12.30pm next Tuesday.
The quarterfinals will start at 8.30pm next Tuesday, the semi-finals will be played from 2pm next Wednesday while the final will be played at 9pm next Wednesday.
