More than 1,000 children aged between 10 to 15 years old are part of the Fiji Mission Pathfinder Camporee that is underway at Naravuka, Macuata in Vanua Levu.
While speaking at the opening of the Pathfinder annual camp, President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere says Pathfinder is built on the principle that children learn best by example, rather than teaching.
Ratu Wiliame reminds the Pathfinders that they need to trust in making mistakes, learn to build on their leadership and people skills, develop their talents and skills, explore new ideas and creativity, and most importantly allow themselves to be who they are.
He says it is with the ultimate vision that they also need to aspire to develop high moral principles, loving and caring attitudes, and determination to excel in all their various pathfinder ranks as they see leaders and parents model spiritual and social values which is very biblical.
The President says this kind of Camporee exists to present wonderful opportunities for Pathfinders to come together and participate in a vast range of activities, meet new friends and take a break from their homes and schools with the underlying aim of learning lifelong skills.
He also reminded them that now we are in the Season of Advent, anticipating the arrival of Jesus of Nazareth our Messiah and as believers we celebrate this time with reflections on hope, love, peace and joy.
The theme for this camp is 'Is the Promise'
