More opportunities for specialised training on anti-narcotics has been discussed between the Fiji Police Force and the Federal Bureau of Investigations in the US.
Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu held discussions with FBI Legal Attache Thomas Shultz who is based in Canberra in Australia.
Shultz has assured Tudravu of the FBI’s support in Fiji and the Pacific’s war on drugs.
Shultz says the FBI is reviewing their current processes of delivering training opportunities to be suited to the policing needs of the Pacific region.
Tudravu says the officers who have undergone training at the Academy are now holding senior posts which is a testament to the high standard of training offered by the FBI.
The Fiji Police Force has been given an opportunity to send an officer to study at the prestigious FBI National Academy every four years.
Graduates include the Chief of Administration ACP Itendra Nair, Chief of Intelligence and Investigations ACP Vakacegu Toduadua, Director Operations SSP Abdul Khan and Director Criminal Investigations Department SSP Seru Neiko.
Fijian officers have undergone specialised training on the Drug Enforcement Administration as well as working closely with the US Embassy Regional Security Office based in Suva.
