Attorney General Siromi Turaga says more local legal practitioners are being appointed to join the Ministry for Justice as there is an abundance of legal practitioners in the country.
He says, currently, there are 14 local High Court judges with eight expatriates, while there are 25 local Magistrates and four expatriates.
Turaga says once the expatriates' 3-year term ends, some contracts will be renewed while others will not.
He says there are two expatriates and one local for masters.
The AG adds once the expatriate's contract ends, locals will be appointed to take up master's as there are ample people in the legal fraternity that can take up this appointment.
Turaga says the appointment of masters can be either straight and a promotion from the Magistracy or it can be senior lawyers who have done well extensively in court matters.
