Miss Hibiscus 2018 hopes to empower young people in tackling the rise of NCD's

Empowering one person at a time can create a rippling effect and encourage behavioral changes in tackling the rise of non‑communicable diseases.

This is the message from the Miss Hibiscus 2018, Jessica Fong who believes that too many lives are lost to a disease that can be fought through a mere change of lifestyle.

Fong who is a first year medical student at Fiji Natoinal University says after the week long festival, she has learnt to better manage her time between Hibiscus and school to persevere. 

23‑year‑old, Fong also hopes to encourage young people to use technology to build themselves and their connections as she believes that the use of social media also comes with responsibilities that people need to be made aware of.

She hopes to spend her day with her family before she returns to school and prepares for the Miss Fiji Pageant.

Fong who also won the Best Sarong Award, will be representing Suva at the Miss Fiji Pagaent later this year.

Meanwhile Miss Sinpoec sponsored by Autocare Nikhat Khan was crowned Hibiscus Miss Charity and first runner up.

Khan raised close to $35,000

2nd runner up was awarded to Miss Suva City Council, Simran Nand, Miss Fiji Care, Lice Yacadra was awarded 3rd Runner Up while 4th runner up was won by Miss Pasifika Tents and Supplies Rayshal Nath.

AG Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, Miss Hibiscus 2018, Jessica Fong, 2nd runner up was awarded to Miss Suva City Council, Simran Nand and 
3rd Runner Up was won by Miss Fiji Care, Lice Yacadra.

In the Kings catergory, Mr Trendy Fashion, Manasa Navara has been crowned the 2018 Vodafone Hibiscus King.


Kings 1st first runner up Mr Image Fiji Akini Qauqau, 2018 Hibiscus King Manasa Navara and 2nd runner up Mohammed Khan with AG Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and Hibiscus Festival organizers.

Navara also won the Kings Best Research Award.

Mr Image Fiji, Akini Qauqau won the Kings first runner up.

Mr Lei Entertainers, Mohammed Khan was awarded the Kings second runner up.
