The Pacific Autism Centre has received a $1,000 donation from the Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, Lynda Tabuya, to support its work in providing assistance to autistic children and their families.
Tabuya says the work that the Pacific Autism Centre does is invaluable, and it is critical that they as a Ministry continue to support their efforts.
Following her visit to the Centre last year, the Ministry recognised autism as a disability to provide social protection in the form of disability allowances for children with autism.
Meanwhile, they have also donated $2,000 to the Drug Free World Fiji project, to recognise the hard work carried out by the organization in creating more awareness of the use of illicit drugs in the country.
The Minister pointed out that there is an increasing number of drug users and that key stakeholders must work together to address this problem.
