A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Tourism and the Fiji National University today.

The Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Faiyaz Koya said the MOU provides a committed approach for the Ministry of Tourism and FNU to work together, to achieve their common goal which is to ensure tourism is a genuine vehicle for sustainable, social and economic development for all Fijians.

Koya said the signing of MOU is a new chapter in the Fijian Government’s partnership with tertiary institutions to improve data collection, research capacity, improving knowledge and skills and providing students real industry experience.

He said this partnership will enhance opportunities available to tourism students, at FNU, to gain valuable industry experience through work attachments and strengthen cooperation and sharing of resources between the Ministry and the FNU College of Business, Hospitality and Tourism studies.

Koya said Government is confident that through their effort and commitment they will be able to achieve more and to be able to continue to develop even stronger relationships between the two parties.
