As the Sugar Industry faces critical issues such as harvesting, research development and milling, the Ministry of Sugar Industry has welcomed two Food and Agriculture Consultants to carry out study on the industry and provide report to the Government.
The two consultants Poonyth Daneswar and Jolly Lindsay will carry out a study on the sugar industry and provide an report to the Government.
Minister for Sugar Industry, Charan Jeath Singh says they are on a transformative journey to revitalise the industry, with a focus on addressing a range of pressing challenges that have hindered growth and sustainability.
Singh says the study will focus on technical assistance to develop strategic plan, policy and institutional framework aimed at addressing these challenges.
He says this initiative will explore the feasibility of various projects, including the establishment of a new sugar refinery and expansion of energy generation capacity.
The Minister says the overarching goal is to generate an actionable plan that will implement the necessary transformational changes within the sugar sector.
The two consultants will be in the country for 2 weeks and will be meeting the key stakeholders and the farmers to gain insight knowledge of the industry.
