The Ministry of National Planning will formulate a new national development plan which will comprise 3-year and 5-year strategies that will put indifferent Key Performance Indicators that the government hopes to achieve in the next 3 years of their term.
This was highlighted by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad while delivering his statement on his week-long tour of the western division.
Professor Prasad says some of the big challenges they still have is to improve the facilities at the hospitals and the health centres from Sigatoka to Tavua, Dreketi, Nausori, Korovou and the sub-divisional medical hospitals.
He says the issues about consumables, drug supplies, and maintenance of buildings are some of the major concerns that the government will also be looking into.
The Finance Minister says they have enough provisions in the budget to fix this issue for the next 6 months which they will coordinate with the Ministry of Health.
He says they also met with the town councils to understand some of the challenges and changes made in the way that the councils were managed over the years.
Professor Prasad says there are also a lot of issues in the business committee such as improving government services.
He says the immigration services have been already set as a priority for the government and as an economic reset agenda.
The Deputy Prime Minister says the Pacific Polytech and the technical education are also revamped and supported despite some of the uncalled and stupid criticism.
Professor Prasad says people are also pleased that after so many years the coalition government has set up a special task force compromising various industries which is a very important and significant step.
He says they are also trying their very best to source climate funding, to do more in terms of building climate-resilient infrastructure and working with the local people.
