The Provincial Director Operations for the Ministry of Itaukei Affairs, Livai Siga has stressed that they will not agree to taking baby steps into legalizing marijuana.
Siga highlighted this in a panel discussion at the National Dialogue titled “Substance Abuse – Let’s Talk About It! Finding a Fijian Solution!”.
This comes after a question was posed by Nicolas Fuata who was a former Psychologist at the Fiji Corrections Service, if baby steps can be taken to legalize marijuana because the wrong drug has been legalized which is alcohol and that has caused more deaths.
Siga says the reason why they do not agree with this is that the iTaukei community is very abusive of privileges that are given to them.
