Ministry of Employment recovers over $300,000 in due wages from non-compliant employers

More than $300,000 was recovered as wages due, from March to May this year, from non-compliant employers and payment has been made to affected workers.

The Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations says the recoveries were possible through proactive labour inspections and compliance investigations in ensuring workers are not being taken advantage of during this crisis.

The Ministry has thanked the employers for their commitment and effort in settling matters in good faith given the current challenges faced in Fiji’s workforce.

Similarly, the Ministry is encouraging employers and workers to continue to engage in good faith and dialogue during this pandemic and to fully utilise the bipartite mechanism to discuss and resolve employment-related matters.
