Ministry of Education assists children in Taveuni

Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts, Dr. Mahendra Reddy addressing the students in a temporary shed at a school in Taveuni.

The assistance that was provided by the Ministry of Education has put a smile on the faces of hundreds of students in Taveuni who lost everything during Cyclone Winston.

Minister, Dr. Mahendra Reddy who is currently in Taveuni said they have distributed educational supplies like school stationery, bags and exercise books to four schools.

Reddy said this includes Vuna District school, South Taveuni Primary School, South Taveuni Secondary school and Lavena Primary school.

He said schools in Taveuni are severely damaged with large scale destruction to classrooms and furniture, Computer Labs, Science Labs, Staffrooms, Administrative Offices and other facilities.

Reddy will continue to visit other schools in Taveuni today.
