Lautoka City Council CEO, Mohammed Anees Khan says the Construction Implementation Unit of the Ministry of Economy is currently undertaking a peer review of the Lautoka Swimming Pool Project.

Khan says this is basically stocktaking what has transpired and what needs to be done to complete the project with estimates.

He revealed this before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Accounts when questioned by SODELPA MP, Aseri Radrodro on the status of the Lautoka Swimming Pool.

Khan says it was a government funded project and they had construction issues.

He says the the Construction Implementation Unit of the Ministry of Economy will be making recommendations after the review and he cannot make further comments.

The Ministry of Local Government had earlier said the cost of the yet-to-be-finished Lautoka Swimming Pool had escalated from the budgeted amount of $2 million to $12.6 million.
