Minister for Agriculture, Dr Mahendra Reddy says they are working with other ministries to ensure they can guarantee food security for all Fijians.
He said this while responding to a question by SODELPA MP Dr Atonio Lalabalavu who asked Dr. Reddy to update them on the status of food and nutrition security and the Fiji Plan of Action for Food and Nutrition security.
Dr. Reddy says over the last two years, they have brought several policies, activities and programs to achieve food security.
He says they undertook two key programs over the last two years, which was the home gardening program and the farm response program.
The Minister for Agriculture says the dust has not settled yet with the crisis between Ukraine and Russia, and the increase in shipping freight cost.
He further adds that they haven’t put their guards down and are getting people to grow their food as much as possible.
