Ministry looks into Regularisation of squatter settlements around Fiji

“Regularisation of squatter settlements around Fiji is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Lands.”

This is according to Lands and Mineral Resources Minister, Mereseini Vuniwaqa following a public consultation in Nadi yesterday.

Vuniwaqa said this is on their priority list especially for the next few years starting from next year adding that they have a task force who are working with the Ministry of Housing.

She added that they will also work with the I Taukei Land Trust Board as squatter settlement does not only exist on state land but also exist on other lands as well.

Other issues were also raised during the public consultation.

A Similar consultation is expected to be held in Labasa next Thursday.
