The water at Navua Hospital is safe to drink and patients should not be told to bring their pillows and bedsheets from home.

Concerns have been raised by some residents in Navua in relation to the Maternity Unit at the Navua Hospital.

Some of the patients admitted to the Maternity Unit said they were told by the health workers to bring their own belongings such as pillows and bed sheets from home.

Health Ministry spokesperson, Evelyn Mani said they are compiling the reports and will look into the matter.

However there is no requirement for patients to bring these items from home.

Mani also said that water tests have been conducted and it has been confirmed that the drinking water at the Navua hospital is safe to consume.

Some patients had said that the health workers told them last week to bring their water from home.

When asked on why the health workers were telling the patients to bring water from home, Mani said that she will not make any comments on this as tests have been conducted and there is no problem with the water supply system.
