The Ministry for Women Children and Poverty Alleviation has assisted about 570 people under the Social Protection Programs since 2010 to last year.
This is revealed by Minister for Women Mereseini Vuniwaqa.
Vuniwaqa says these people were assisted through training under the Poverty Benefit and Social Protection Scheme so that they can stand on their feet and start livelihoods projects for generating income for their families.
Vuniwaqa says these projects include, bee farming, vegetable farming, sewing, fishing,jewelry and many more.
Vuniwaqa says it takes six months for a recipient to graduate under this program.
She also says the government also provides grants for people living with disabilities.
