Minister for Local Government, Parveen Kumar has opened the new Tavakubu Satellite Market in Lautoka this morning.

The new development provides a safe, hygienic and modern shelter for 24 vendors, and includes shower and toilet facilities.

A government statement says another satellite market would also be built near VM Pillay Rd in Lautoka.

This marks efforts to de‑centralise municipal markets out of congested CBDs and provide produce in key residential areas such as Tavakubu.
