Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Viliame Gavoka has visited the Fiji Airways management board and the Fiji Airways Hangar board on the organisation and was briefed about the process and areas that need improvement, during his second day in the Western division.

Gavoka was accompanied by Assistant Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Alitia Bainivalu along with the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga.

The government delegation were given a tour of the Fiji Airways Academy and were shown how the pilots are trained ensuring the best safety methods provided by Fiji Airways.

They also visited the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji and were accorded a traditional welcome ceremony.

Gavoka acknowledged the staff at Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji for their continuous hard-work over the years.

He says the staff at CAAF are responsible for regulating aviation in this country and safety is very much a huge part of the equation in the tourism industry.

The Deputy Prime Minister adds both organizations have a good reputation internationally and credited their staff and members for that.
