With the success of the 2024 Mini Job Fair, the Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations is looking at holding this event in the Central and Northern Divisions during this financial year to ensure inclusivity for all individuals.
Minister Agni Deo Singh says the success of this year’s fair saw 612 individuals securing employment during the two-day event, while 1,582 unemployed persons were registered in the work-ready pool for the participating employers.
Elaborating on the success of the fair, Singh says this year’s fair was held at Koroivolu Park in Nadi, where 20 employers and exhibitors conducted walk-in interviews and offered immediate hiring opportunities.
He says, however, the number of employers doubled to 40 on the day of the event, signifying the high interest from our local employers to be part of this platform.
Singh adds the mini-job fair serves to strengthen the partnerships between the Ministry and key stakeholders, including private-sector employers, educational institutions, and international organizations, to improve employment opportunities in Fiji.
The Minister says they also organised a Student Employment Exposure Program for Year 11 students during the two-week school holidays, which aims to facilitate the transition from school to employment for these students.
