The Mineral Resources Department has so far recorded 10 aftershocks after a 7.5 magnitude earthquake was recorded 38 kilometres South West of Maloku village in Moala Island in Lau at 3.49 yesterday.
It says it will keep monitoring for any further updates.
The United States Geological Survey recorded the earthquake at 7.8 magnitude.
The aftershocks all occurred offshore in the same area.

They happened between 4am to 10am yesterday and all originated from the main event - the 7.5 magnitude earthquake which was recorded at a depth of 664 kilometres just after 3 yesterday.
However, the Mineral Resources Department stresses there is no threat of a tsunami saying it does not pose any immediate threat to the Fiji region.
The earthquake was also felt in parts of the Central and Western Division.
