One of the biggest tourism developments undertaken in Fiji, the multi-million dollar Phase 3 refurbishment and expansion project at Wyndham Resort in Denarau is set to officially open on Monday.
Resorts General Manager Bob Speed said over 250 local workers and subcontractors have been employed during the expansion works while an extra 40 fulltime resort positions have been created as a result of the expansion.
Speed said the redevelopment and expansion will position Wyndham Resort Denarau Island as the premier resort within the Denarau Island accommodation sector.
He said the resort enjoys consistently high occupancy of over 90% irrespective of season or economic climate and therefore have invested over $50 million in the project while also enhancing the resorts food and beverage offering and arrival experience.
The project has been underway since late 2011 which includes the construction of 63 new apartments, 138 existing apartments, Wyndham Resort Denarau Island will soon feature one and two-bedroom deluxe apartments, spacious three-bedroom Grand Suites and well-appointed three and four-bedroom oceanfront Presidential Suites, which boast their own private plunge pools and entertainment decks.
Special guests that will attend the ceremony include the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.
