The Methodist Church in Fiji is expected to receive the exact number of its membership in this year’s Annual Conference.
Secretary of Communication, Reverend James Bhagwan says the church will then be able to analyse further, based on these numbers.
Bhagwan says one of the church’s resolution last year was for the 56 divisions to take this work seriously to reach out to their members who may not attend church regularly or have not been visited by church leaders.
It was highlighted last year that the membership of the Methodist Church has dropped over the past 10 years.
The Methodist Church then established that some members have joined other denominations and some members are not committed although they were baptized in the Methodist Church.
The current membership is around 200,000 compared to 300,000 according to the government statistics.
The Festival of Praise is currently underway at Furnival Park in Toorak while the Annual Conference will begin next Monday at the Centenary Church.
