The Methodist Church in Fiji has revealed that there has been a decline in their membership again by 2,076.
Secretary of Communications Reverend James Bhagwan says the issue has been discussed at the Church Annual Conference.
The 2016 Statistics Report presented in last year’s conference showed that 3,554 members left the church in the 12 month period.
The church membership recorded for 2016 was 198,610.
There were 202,164 members of the Methodist Church in 2015.
Bhagwan says that one of the reasons for the decline in numbers is the urban migration after Tropical Cyclone Winston last year.
He says that the church is going to be more diligent in recording numbers as well as recognising members who are stationed in the military abroad, prison inmates and members of their overseas fellowship.
The Methodist Church Annual Conference will end today.
