Serious concerns are being raised about methamphetamine usage in Ba Town, fights occurring on the streets following the opening of nightclubs, and the consumption of alcohol in town.
While speaking to fijivillage News, Ba Chamber of Commerce Acting Secretary Prashil Prabhash says alcohol consumption and drug usage are really impacting workplace incidents, reducing productivity, and the possibility of growth.
Prabhash says the drunkards go around in Ba Town, especially on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and fight on the streets, and the issue is more prevalent during the cane-cutting season.
The Acting Secretary says they are collaborating with Ba Police and Local Government to install CCTV cameras and implement restrictions on liquor and clubs to enhance public safety.
Prabhash further says some youths spend most of their wages on alcohol and going to the clubs and is urging some control over this as the youth are the future of this country.
He further says it is important for the Ba Chamber of Commerce, businesses, Local Government, and community organisations to collaborate on addressing these issues, especially drugs and alcohol.
Prabhash adds they need rehabilitation centres, and students must be educated on these issues.
