Mentions of Jesus and the Queen have been removed from New Zealand’s Parliament.
A consultation period for the new karakia is not over yet but the Speaker of the House, Trevor Mallard has already adopted it.
That's been causing concern amongst some in opposition, but Mallard says he will consider any feedback before a final decision is made.
It was understood a more extreme change ‑ including removing any religious reference and adding more M_ori references ‑ had been proposed but was rejected.
