The Fiji Airways men’s national 7s team still has a slim chance of playing in the placement matches of the Malaga 7s if they are cleared on time however the Fijiana will miss out completely.
World Rugby says both sides will not be replaced and opponents in their respective group matches will receive three points for a “bye” match and a score of nil-all will be recorded.
They also say it is yet to be confirmed if the Fiji Men’s side will be able to arrive in time to participate later in the competition in the placement matches.
The Fiji men’s and women’s 7s teams are currently on the fifth day of their 7-day isolation following a COVID-19 outbreak in camp.
Their isolation is expected to end on Friday if everything goes well.
The Malaga 7s will also kick off on Friday while the placement matches will begin at 4.20am Sunday.
