People living in Mau village in Namosi are thankful that they are one of the three villages in Fiji to pilot the Saemaul Undong Initiative that has benefited the village.
Through this initiative, the villagers have built their evacuation centre, rebuilt their village hall and constructed the village footpath and railings for their bridge.
Navugayago clan leader, Wame Serukeitoga says the development does not only benefit one person but the whole village.
Mau Village headman, Ananaisa Rokovatunawa says this aid has been given for five years, and this year is the fourth year of the donor assisting the village of Mau.
Rokovatunawa says their last project for next year is their generating source of income.
He says diligence, self-help and cooperation were their motivation to be able to come together as one in the community and do the work for the benefit of everyone living in the village.
He says Mau Village was fortunate to be one of the three villages in Fiji to be selected and given the aid funded by the Samuel Undon and the other two villages are Silana and Naimasimasi in Tailevu.
