The Mataqali Nabaramai of Waiqanake Village, Rewa has approved the lease of a piece of their land for the Water Authority of Fiji to build a dam, which will benefit thousands of people.

Water Authority of Fiji CEO Opetaia Ravai said the 8,000 square meters of land where the dam will be situated will supply 4.2 megaliters of water per day, which will benefit the whole of Kalekana, and extend as far as the Naval Base in Kalokolevu.

Ravai confirmed that Government paid the Mataqali trustee the first payment of $161,250 and the remaining balance of $53,750 will be paid once the survey is completed and survey plans are approved.

The spokesperson of the Trustee Taniela Vueti said they are happy with the compensation being paid to them which will be used for the benefit of the Mataqali Nabaramai.
