Christmas came early for the mataqali Matalevu of Vunitogoloa Village in Ra after receiving $740,000 in lease monies from the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources.
The ceremonial handover, which was facilitated by the Minister of Lands and Mineral Resources Filimoni Vosarogo and the Land Use Division, marked another significant milestone in the Ministry’s development initiatives.
Speaking at the event, Vosarogo highlighted the Government's commitment to ensuring that landowners benefit directly from the leases of their lands.
He says the amount they have received represents the value of trust, shared prosperity and the power that lies with landowners when they work together.
Vosarogo says as they celebrate, it is important not to forget to plan for the future, invest in their children and their education, consider projects that will enhance and improve their lives and encourage communal ventures that stimulate growth within the mataqali and village.
The substantial lease amount stems from the investment initiatives of 480 Holdings Ltd. and administration under the Land Use Division, ensuring sustainable practices and fair returns for landowning units.
